Safestyle UK Shop Steward Ian Brookeshas had a haircut or a shave in one year – but it was all in aid of a good cause.
The 43-year-old, of Wood Street, Barnsley, was raising money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. His daughter Tegan came up with the idea after remembering how her nannan, Janet, who died in 2010, would always try and get her son to grow his hair.
He said: “I’ve had the skinhead for the last 20 years, and my mum was always trying to get me to grow my hair.”
Ian has raised just over £1,000 and had the lot shaved off at Tony’s Barbers on Racecommon road on Wednesday.
He added: “I’ve found it OK up until this last month when it’s really started to plague me. But my mum would have been pleased I have raised some money for charity. She’d be telling my to have it cut and get rid of the beard but not to shave it.”
